The Morning After the Morning After

Alright, let's get real. It's January 6th, 2026. The "new year, new me" energy is officially dead. The gym is getting less crowded, the salads are turning back into pizza, and your crypto portfolio... well, it's the same.

I just spent an hour doing something depressing: I read actual human conversations about crypto right now. Not the influencers. Not the news sites. The raw, unfiltered posts from people who aren't getting paid to be here.

Here's what I found: Nobody knows what's happening, and everyone's tired of pretending they do.

The Three Conversations Nobody Wants to Have (But Everyone's Having)

1. The "Should I Just Sell?" Conversation

This isn't on Twitter. This is in DMs, group chats with real names, and quiet corners of Reddit.

"My portfolio is down 70% from the peak. If I sell now, I make the loss real. If I hold, I might lose more. What do I do?"

Nobody has a good answer. The "HODL" crowd is quiet. The "buy the dip" bros have run out of dip money. This is the sound of pure uncertainty.

2. The "What Even Is the Narrative?" Conversation

We've burned through every story:

  • Digital gold? Done.

  • DeFi? Got complicated and boring.

  • NFTs? Mostly dead.

  • AI + Crypto? Fizzled.

  • Real World Assets? Sounds like a finance textbook.

The silence is deafening. When there's no story to tell, there's no reason for new money to show up.

3. The "Maybe I Should Get a Real Job" Conversation

This is the quietest one, but it's growing. People are doing the math:

  • Hours spent staring at charts

  • Money lost

  • Opportunities missed

  • Stress gained

The equation doesn't look good. Minimum wage looks attractive when you're down 70% on your "investments."

WHAT PEOPLE ARE ACTUALLY SEARCHING RIGHT NOW

Let me save you the clickbait. Here's what real people are Googling today:

  1. "how to calculate crypto losses for taxes" (This is the #1 search)

  2. "crypto portfolio recovery 2026"

  3. "signs of crypto addiction" (Oof)

  4. "stable jobs with benefits" (Double oof)

  5. "is it too late to exit crypto"

Notice something? These aren't "how to get rich" searches. These are "how to survive" searches. These are exit questions, not entry questions.

WHAT TO DO WHEN NOTHING IS HAPPENING

  1. Stop forcing it. Not every day needs a trade. Not every week needs gains. Sometimes the best move is no move.

  2. Do your taxes NOW. See the real numbers. Let them hurt. Use that pain to make better decisions.

  3. Set one realistic goal. Not "get rich." Something like:

    • Understand how proof-of-stake actually works

    • Build a simple website

    • Talk to a financial advisor

    • Learn a real skill

  4. Touch grass. Literally. Go outside. The charts will be there when you get back. Probably unchanged.

THE UNCOMFORTABLE TRUTH

The difference between 2021 and 2026 isn't the price. It's the hope.

In 2021, we had unlimited hope. We were early. We were changing the world.

In 2026, we have data. We have scars. We have proof that most projects fail, most people lose money, and the "revolution" looks a lot like... just another asset class.

Maybe that's okay. Maybe revolutions aren't supposed to last forever. Maybe they're supposed to create something new, then settle into being normal.

SO WHAT NOW?

You have three options:

  1. Double down. Go full degen. YOLO. (You'll probably lose, but it'll be exciting!)

  2. Get serious. Treat it like a real investment. Study. Learn. Diversify. Manage risk. (Boring, but might work.)

  3. Walk away. Take your losses as an expensive lesson. Build a life outside crypto. (Painful now, peaceful later.)

I don't know which is right for you. But I do know this: January 6th is the day you choose.

Not with a tweet. Not with a resolution. With what you actually do.

Will you spend another 3 hours scrolling charts? Or will you do something that actually moves your life forward?

The market won't care either way.
